Fixing Driveway Cracks – What to do?
Driveways can crack for many reasons. Repeated freezing and thawing, heavy loads, tree roots and even shifts in the ground can cause damage. When we learn how to repair cracks in a concrete driveway, we may be able to stop them before they lead to bigger problems. Fortunately, filling cracks in a concrete driveway is a simple and relatively inexpensive DIY project. 1. Clean the Surface: First we need to use a leaf blower to sweep the leaves, acorns and dust from the surface of the driveway. If there are oil stains, a degreaser or primer is used to help clean and disguise the stains before sealing. A pressure washer is used to remove all visible weeds in the cracks. Bleach is used in a spray bottle. A 15-degree, general-cleaning tip should be used in the pressure washer to completely clean the surface.
